Lesson Options

Here at Piazza Dance we believe that any one can learn how to dance through a combination of private lessons, workshops, and practice sessions.

A combination of these three classes will provide you with a fast, fun and easy way to learn how to dance.

Workshops

Workshops are a great way to get started on your journey to becoming a dancer. They consist of a minimum of four people and a maximum as determined by the instructor. The workshop will allow you to learn the mechanics in a variety of dance steps, which include a sample of different leads and follows. The instructor will also allow you ample practice time.

Private lessons

Private lessons consist of one or two students. These lessons are designed to target your specific goals and individual needs. Here you will work much more on your leading and following skills. This is where you begin to build confidence and start to feel a bit more comfortable with your dancing. Private lessons are the most important of all.

Practice Sessions

This is where you begin to practice your dancing outside a lesson. For example, you might go out specifically for dinner and dancing just to practice your dancing. Here at Piazza Dance we set up special "Dance Nights Out" for our students. We will schedule different nights at different venues to get in your practice sessions. We also may have Social Dances in house from time to time. This is a good ice breaker! When the time arises where you find yourself at a social dance event, you will be more comfortable getting out on the floor.

Helpful Tips

Your attitude is very important in learning how to dance! You may be thinking of taking lessons for yourself or for someone else. Whatever the reason, if you come in with a positive attitude, you will have a lot more fun during the process.

No technical knowledge of music is needed to become a good dancer. It is perfectly normal to have some difficulty distinguishing between different types of music and recognizing the beat at first. As your lessons progress, this will disappear.

On your first visit you will be introduced to three very important ingredients in learning how to dance. They are the footwork, the rhythm, and your lead or follow. All three are very easy. It just may take a moment to do all three at the same time. Always allow yourself a couple of lessons before getting the hang of it.

It is important initially to keep your lessons close together, at least once a week, if possible. This will make it easier to retain the brain memory and program your muscle memory for the correct feeling.
